Risk

So, my nephews are getting old enough to start taking some serious risks.

Here's Zach doing his thing on his new motorcycle, which his mother has apparently named "Satan" (click the image for a larger, wide-angle shot):

This shot comes a couple of weeks after his first outing on Satan, when Satan got the upper hand. The young man was practicing using the back brake to bring the nose of the bike down when airborne. (Tapping the rear brake causes some of the wheel's spin to be transfered to the body of the bike, making the bike tend to rotate in the direction of the wheel, hence bringing the front wheel down. Of course, if the rear wheel hasn't yet left the ground the effect is intensified, causing the front wheel to snap down much faster, slamming onto the ground, causing the rider to go ass-over-elbows over the handlebar, resulting in a facefull of track for the erstwhile rider. The bike then has a tendency to keep moving along its original path, which unfortunately is over the back of the former rider of said bike.) Anyway, another picture:

The kid has guts though; he was back on the bike a couple of days later, and racing within a couple of weeks.

Speaking of guts and fearful situations, his brother Christopher is probably embarking on a more dangerous mission (again, click for a larger picture):

Bikes obey the laws of physics, and science in general. Girls, not so much.
