We Come in Peace! We Come in Peace!

This guy is the answer to a question that was bugging me earlier:

We Come in Peace! Ack ack!
A Martian from Tim Burton's Mars Attacks!

The question is below the fold:

All your content are belong to us

Session Start (whatsapundit:Ishbadiddle): Wed Jan 10 11:28:38 2007

whatsapundit: Have you looked at Google's "Docs & Spreadsheets"?

Ishbadiddle: no

whatsapundit: great idea, but the first iteration of the editor makes me want to scream.

whatsapundit: the doc editor, that is.

whatsapundit: every bad HTML habit is instantiated by the WYSIWYG editor.

whatsapundit: the geek in me looks at this and says "You coulda been a contenda!"

whatsapundit: you have a gmail account?

whatsapundit: I'll show you a sample

Ishbadiddle: XXXXXXXXXXX@gmail.com

Ishbadiddle: i distrust google with my docs

whatsapundit: i would too

whatsapundit: amazing how fast google morphed into big brother

whatsapundit: "don't be evil"

whatsapundit: "(unless there's a testerosa in it for me....)"

Ishbadiddle: A cursed Testerosa...

whatsapundit: they're built in france; they're all cursed.

Ishbadiddle: well it's not completely awful

Ishbadiddle: looking at docu

whatsapundit: it's the underlying HTML that's awful

whatsapundit: the dreaded <br /> is as good as a <p> </p> convention

whatsapundit: the revision tracking functionality is NICE though

whatsapundit: trust google to get the hard stuff right and the easy stuff totally bollixed

whatsapundit: probably want to pull this document down in a couple of minutes

whatsapundit: but I thought you might be interested.

whatsapundit: Again, if it weren't google I'd be psyched

whatsapundit: as is....

whatsapundit: "all your content are belong to us"

Ishbadiddle: http://base.google.com/base

whatsapundit: oh, jeeez

whatsapundit: that's funny

whatsapundit: may be time to BLIM

Ishbadiddle: go right ahead

POSTSCRIPT: I just spent an hour and a half trying to get this post up. The problem? It turns out that any time I try to post a link that goes to http://docs.google.com Movable Type 3.3 throws a 500 Server Configuration Error page at me. Now that's evil.

The most amazing thing about the experience? The same error happens even when I try to link to http://tinyurl.com/j46zg, which is a redirect to docs.google.com! Now that's really, really evil.

Direct Action in the People's Republic of San Francisco

But just don't question the Progressive Left's patriotism:

NEW YORK (AFP) - Members of a close-harmony group from Yale University are recovering after being ambushed and beaten up while on tour in California.

Members of the a cappella Baker's Dozen were performing at a party in San Francisco at the new year when their rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" apparently sparked taunts and threats from fellow partygoers.

As the group left the house, they were attacked by dozens of assailants, suffering scrapes, black eyes and concussions, said Connecticut's News Channel 8.

Where does the new Speaker of the House come from? I forget....

If you need it, a Direct Action overview.

Bad news on the doorstep...

Kerry won't run for president in '08.

Actually, that's not bad news for the Republic, but it is bad news for those of us who loved to rip into the bloviating botoxed bipolar bhraman from Boston.

Not that the remaining list of likely candidates isn't still a target-rich environment: With Biden, Gore, and Edwards on the left, and Hagel, Pataki, and Gingrich on the right, there's more than enough pomposity in various shades of vacuity waiting to be skewered.

(I have to admit to a soft spot for Gingrich. He's obviously a smart man; but if it was simply "smart" that counted, Nixon and Clinton would go down in history as great Presidents....)

Godspeed, Mr. Kerry. Look on the bright side; you might actually have won the last election if you hadn't decided to run on your schizophrenic Vietnam record. As is, you're just a footnote instead of a cautionary tale.

And when you smile for the camera

I've seen your picture
Your name in lights above it
This is your big debut
It's like a dream come true
And when you smile for the camera
I know they're gonna love it

Just call me "anti-life", I guess....

The Corner at National Review is the best conversational blog I've seen, and I greatly respect some of the writers there (Goldberg and Steyn in particular), but sometimes I just want to shake Katherine Jean Lopez (who happens to be the Editor of National Review Online).

She posts exerpts from two supposedly differing views on Guiliani here. One boils down to "yeah, he's a Godless baby-killer, but he's a Republican and good on National Security" while the other boils down to "I don't care if he calls himself a Republican, he's a Godless baby-killer."
